Hi there,Here i am attempting to write something on my new baby BOSE Companion 5 Surround sound speakers.I would splash honest comments on this product unlike bringing you down to my steriotypic crazy words.
I first heard about BOSE in 1999, i happened to read an article published in 'HINDU'. That was all about
their new product Noice Cancelling Head phones. I was quite amazed with the research they made to bring best sound out from a Music system. Since then i turned BOSE crazy , and used to dream to own one BOSE.
Now, after owning Companion 5 model surround sound speakers , i almost feel like the sounds i heard so far prior BOSE are not sounds, they were just noice.I just can not explain the happiness it brought me as
i was in a sheer pursuit of listening to quality of sound. During my college days i and one of my music
crazy friends spent good times listing to music and discuss the quality of sound, we used to visit
Music World in Spencers , Chennai, quite often just because of the reason that they play music in Bose in the store.We figured out the models Bose offers thinking 'One or the other day we can listen music from Bose in our own living room' We had hardly have any money even to get high end sterio system to setup in the Hostel..Forget Bose.
ok let me not bore you, i am coming to talk something about my new purchase Companion 5.
Bose says companion 5 offers surround sound , But critics say it offers surround sound experience.
Let me figure that out here.
As you people know , technically there are 2 kinds of channel splits in sound in the music systems we enjoy
in our home. One is 2.1 and the other is 5.1. Let me figure completely out about 5.1. This is an environment where you feel the 3d effects of sound , say, the sounds in Traffic or a bullet fired from a gun or a loony rumble when earth quakes. Companion 5 offers a pseudo 5.1 channel split. Meaning, you feel almost clueless to differentiate the real surround sound speakers and Companion 5. But die hard core music listeners or Sound analisers can able to make out that Companion 5 gives you almost surround sound like experience. This new TrueSpace surround processing technology and circuitry delivers an enveloping soundstage from two closely held speakers
I feel this Companion 5 is fairly enough to make your neighbors envy, and keeps complaining your land lords.
It costed me 22,000/- and i tell you this is the best job i have ever done.
It feels me the completeness listening to Music , watching a movie or playing a game.
play any one of the DVDs from the list Matrix, Saving Private Ryan, Troy or Lagaan. The background surround sounds make you mad and place you in a virtual movie theater.
This model is exclusively designed for your Desk top or your Laptop. Ofcource you can connect it to your Ipod, Music player or to a DVD player. You can connect it to your TV too but Bose doesnt recomands.
It created a revolution in Desktop audio systems as ofcource it came through research.
When you unpack Companion 5 , you find 4 objects, 2 sattilite speakers and a mundane like thing AccoustMass (Sub) a Control Pod resembles a ice Hockey Puck and ofcource high qiality signal chords in quite a number.
I placed all of them as was instructed, a USB cable does all the job , just connect your computer to the AccoustMass with a USB cable, No external hardware needed nor any Drivers.
Oh all set for music, I bet you turn your face round the room finding where the sound is coming from. Actually the technology used in Companion is quite impressive. It produces pungent sound beams from the 2 small speakers so that they hit the wall and bounce back to your ears( this is what Surround sound experience). And this AccoustMass makes low frequency rumble , you can place it anywhere in the room , you can almost hide anywhere.
I had experiences with quite a number of other music systems like
Sony 5.1, Intex 2.1, Creative 5.1(both SBS and Inspire),Yamaha RP 100-PKG .... Rubbish.
No wonder Bose comes for a price, infact much costlier than others.But truely worth for years of great Music
listening experience. Bose is definately the choice for all audiophiles….I bet you sure turn a Bosophile after listening music in Bose. It has its niche in the world of music.
